By law and safety policy, professional movers can't transport hazardous or perishable items. That means propane tanks, gasoline, paint, aerosols, cleaning chemicals, fireworks, ammunition, and anything flammable or corrosive. We also recommend you personally carry valuables, cash, jewelry, medications, important documents, and irreplaceable items rather than loading them on the truck. Plants and open food are usually best moved yourself, especially on a long-distance move.

What are your best packing tips?

Pack heavy items like books in small boxes and light items like linens in large ones so nothing gets too heavy to lift safely. Fill every box to the top - use towels or packing paper to eliminate empty space so boxes don't crush. Wrap dishes vertically like records, label each box by room and content, and pack a clearly marked “first-night” box with toiletries, phone chargers, a change of clothes, and basic tools so you're not digging through the truck on day one.

Should I tip my movers, and how much?

Tipping isn't required, but it's a common and appreciated way to recognize a hard-working crew. A typical guideline is $20–$40 per mover for a half-day local move, or $40–$60 per mover for a full-day or especially heavy job - adjust up for stairs, extreme care, or long carries. You can hand it to each mover directly or give a lump sum to the crew lead to split. Cold water, coffee, or lunch on a long day is always welcome too.
